Dose of Art #88: Anthony van Dyck – Charles I with M. de St Antoine (1633)

The painting shows Charles I on horseback, accompanied by his riding master, Pierre Antoine Bourdon, Seigneur de St Antoine.
Van Dyck made several versions of the painting and although Charles I draws our attention so does the horse which shows the influence of Rubens (van Dyck was one of his pupils). There also exists a study drawing in black chalk on paper of this painting which is in the possession of the British Museum.
