Mauve was committed to record peasant life, Dutch skies and the flat country. Changing Pasture exemplifies all that; on one of those typical Dutch rainy days with the sun and some blue sky just around the corner, we see a woman driving two cows to fresh pasture. In the distance we see the vague outline of dunes, indicating he painted it near his native city The Hague.
His landscapes with sheep were very popular in America, but this one found its way there too as it is on display in The Met, New York.
