About

Size of art is the result of circumstances. Of interests, curiosity and accident converging at a specific point in time. About a year ago I got tickets to the Hieronymus Bosch exhibition in his birthplace Den Bosch. When I was looking at images of his paintings I thought it would be nice to have them on my phone. Thinking this would be simple I made a small app to show a big image of the painting The garden of Earthly Delights. No problem. Next step was to introduce zooming so you could examine the details (the painting does have a lot of them). For that to work, I needed an image with a higher pixel resolution. So I found an image with a resolution larger than 4000 x 4000 pixels, tried it out and the app crashed without even zooming. As it turned out iOS can’t handle very high pixel resolutions due to memory limitations. So I needed to find a solution and I did. Over time I added features wich seemed to make sense; like taking a screenshot of a particular area and sharing it with others. Nothing beats an old master when you want to express your feelings…
